The Lethbridge police is asking residents to safeguard their bank accounts following an increase in reports of suspicious transactions involving compromised accounts.
Police say scammers are accessing bank accounts through phone SIM swaps, by having victims gives fraudsters remote access to their computers and from people who unknowingly click on fraudulent links or ads.
It’s why taking extra measures like using a unique password for each account with a combination of upper case and lower case letters, numbers and symbols are advised.
You could also consider using a password manager or multi-factor authentication.
