A 34-year-old man has died in an overnight drive-by shooting in Scarborough Village, police say.

Officers were first called to the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Markham Road around 12:15 a.m.

According to police, a man was walking in that area when he was shot by a suspect, or suspects, who were inside of a moving vehicle.

First responders performed CPR and Toronto Paramedic Services rushed the man to hospital in critical condition.

Police said he was pronounced dead a short while after.

They have identified the victim as Toronto resident Adam Christopher Moncrieffe. He is the city’s 83rd homicide victim of the year.

Police have not provided details about the suspects.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or footage of the area at the time to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

“Your information could be crucial in helping us solve this homicide,” the news release issued Thursday evening reads.
