School bus cancellations are likely for parts of southern Ontario this week [Video]

A winter wonderland is taking shape and for some school students in parts of southern Ontario, Monday could bring a third straight snow day following last Thursday and Friday’s bus cancellations due to the inclement weather.

According to Instant Weather Inc., lake-effect snow squalls are expected to intensify Sunday night into Monday, with regions near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay facing the highest risk of disruptions.

Instant Weather has put its own fun spin on weather forecasting with a colour-coded scale that predicts school bus cancellations based on snowfall severity.

Most of southern Ontario, including Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Halton and Durham, fall into the “Do Your Homework” (5-10%) category, meaning minimal transit disruptions are expected.

In Dufferin, Parry Sound and parts of Muskoka and Kawartha Lakes, the “Spoon Under Pillow” (25-50%) range suggests a moderate chance of cancellations, depending on how much snow …
