School, park targets of hate crimes in Ontario [Video]

A swastika spray-painted on a park sidewalk and an anti-Semitic video filmed outside of a school are two hate crimes that police in York Regional Police are investigating.

On May 8, police responded to a park in the area of Bathurst Street and Major Mackenzie Drive West in Vaughan for a report of anti-Semitic graffiti. Investigators say they found a spray-painted swastika on the sidewalk. The graffiti was removed.

Then, on May 10, investigators were made aware of a video on social media, filmed outside of an elementary school in Vaughan. No threats were made, and there is no concern for public safety, police say.

York Regional Police say they are aware of the increased concern within the community as a result of these two incidents, which they say are being treated as separate incidents.
