Emergency crews have suspended their river search for a missing Saskatchewan man.

The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) says the search has been suspended after two days of searching the South Saskatchewan River.

Saskatoon police and firefighters began searching for the body of 48-year-old Derek Sarazin on Dec. 9.

According to police, Sarazin was last seen at his residence on Nov. 22 at around 4 p.m.

Sarazin was known to enjoy walks along the river, and police say his family believed he may have been in a vulnerable state when he left.

On Monday, police said their investigation led them to believe Sarazin may be in the river. No foul play is suspected.

Although the river search has been called off, police say the investigation remains open, and they will continue to investigate his disappearance.
