‘Serious’ assault on inmate leads to investigation at maximum security prison in Ontario [Video]

Investigators are looking into the assault on an inmate at a maximum security prison in Ontario that sent one man to hospital, the OPP says.

The “serious assault” happened on Tuesday shortly after 5 p.m. at the Millhaven Institution, approximately 25 kilometres west of Kingston, according to police.

A 36-year-old male inmate was transported to hospital “for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries,” the OPP says.

The incident is being investigated by the OPP Penitentiary Squad and Correctional Service Canada.

No additional details about the incident have been released.
