Severe weather threat prompts changes to hours for Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival [Video]

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) – The 73rd annual Fairhope Arts and Crafts festival is underway but the potential for severe weather is causing some changes.

Organizers said the festival will operate on an abbreviated schedule on Saturday, opening and 10 a.m. and closing at 1 p.m.

There will also be shuttle service from 9:30 a.m. and until 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The festival will extend its hours Sunday, March 16, opening an hour earlier at 9 a.m. and continuing until 5 p.m. Shuttles will run Sunday from 8:30 am to 5:30 p.m., organizers said.

More than 200 vendors from across the United States and Canada are showing off their work this weekend.

Organizers say they could see up to 300,000 visitors over the three-day event.

The streets of downtown are closed to traffic.
