ST. JOHN’S, N.L. –

A 64-year-old Newfoundland man charged with dozens of sex crimes involving young people is facing several new charges.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary say Anthony Humby was scheduled to appear in court in St. John’s to face seven charges of trafficking persons under the age of 18.

They allege the offences occurred between 2006 and 2022.

Humby now faces a total of 79 charges related to 13 complainants, while a co-accused — 82-year-old Bruce Escott — has pleaded guilty to seven charges and is to be sentenced in 2025.

Police say their investigation began in November 2022 and has involved hundreds of interviews and extensive electronic data collection and forensic analysis.

Both men remain in custody as police continue to investigate the case.
