Hamilton Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place Thursday evening, April 17, in the city’s south mountain area.
Officers were called to the scene near Upper James Street and Mohawk Road, where an adult female was found with gunshot wounds. She was rushed to the hospital but later pronounced dead.
The incident has prompted a homicide investigation, and police have closed Upper James between Mohawk and McElroy as they collect evidence and canvass the area. Investigators are asking the public to stay clear of the area to allow the investigation to proceed safely.
Currently, there is no suspect or vehicle description available.
Police say the investigation is in its early stages and more information will be released as it becomes available.
