Significant winter storm expected in the GTA and southern Ontario [Video]

A winter storm could hit the GTA and southern Ontario this weekend.

The “significant winter storm” storm is possible for the lower Great Lakes area this weekend, Environment and Climate Change Canada said in a post on X.

Widespread snow is expected to move in Saturday night through to Sunday, Environment Canada said.

A computer model animation shows heavy snow and ice pellets moving from southwestern Ontario to the GTA and across to Ottawa. This is one possible scenario, the weather forecaster said.

The Weather Network is forecasting up to 15 cm of snow starting in Saturday afternoon and continuing overnight in Mississauga, Toronto, Brampton, Durham Region and Halton Region.
