SILVER SPRING, Md. (DC News Now) — Residents in the Quebec Terrace neighborhood are using several objects – from construction cones to paint buckets – to illegally reserve parking spots, prompting local authorities to intervene.

“It gets really bad here. Everyone has their assigned cones or a garbage pail or anything that marks their area – where they go parking,” said one resident whose car was keyed after parking in someone else’s slot reserved by a cone.

According to officials, Montgomery County Police (MCPD) removed three dumpster trucks worth of cones and buckets on Wednesday that were left in parking slots by residents.

But as of the following Monday afternoon, parking slots throughout 11th Avenue and Quebec Terrace were again occupied with objects.
