Sinners public theater screenings underway in Clarksdale [Video]

CLARKSDALE, MISS. (WMC) – The blockbuster film Sinners has several screenings that will be showing down in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Film director Ryan Coogler said Clarksdale simply felt right due to it being a place “filled with rich history and Blues culture.”

Coogler spoke in the Clarksdale Civic Auditorium to share the story behind Sinners and why it was so special.

“I just did a lot of research about the state of Mississippi, and I kinda zeroed in on the Delta Blues style of music.”

Catherine Clark, a Clarksdale native, spoke on what it meant for her town to be in the spotlight.

“I am elated to have Clarksdale on a positive note because in the last few years, every time it’s negative, something negative, this is something positive, and maybe we can keep the trend going, bring some attention, bring some more business get us back to where we used …
