SiRT investigating after man’s arm broken during arrest in Halifax [Video]

Nova Scotia’s police watchdog is investigating after a man was injured during an arrest in Halifax.

Halifax Regional Police was attempting to arrest a man who had allegedly entered a home unlawfully in the city on Sunday.

Officers arrested the man for multiple breaches of court orders and break and enter, according to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).

SiRT says a struggle took place during the arrest and the man’s arm was broken.

The man was taken to hospital after being assessed by EHS at the HRP Prisoner Care Facility.

“Due to the serious injury sustained by the male, SiRT has assumed responsibility for this investigation,” reads a news release from SiRT.

SiRT is responsible for investigating matters involving death, serious injury, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, or other matters that may have arisen from the actions of a police officer in …
