The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating after a 49-year-old man from White Bear First Nation died in a Carlyle Detachment cell.
At around 12:20 a.m. on Friday, Carlyle RCMP responded to a report of an assault on White Bear First Nation where two injured people – a man and a woman – were found in a home, Saskatchewan RCMP said in a release on Saturday.
The man sustained serious injuries and the woman had non-life threatening injuries. Police say both were taken to hospital.
According to police, the 49-year-old man, who was arrested on scene, was taken to the Carlyle Detachment and lodged in the detachment cells. He was monitored by staff throughout the night.
