Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has taken over the case following a tragic accident on Highway 7 in Madoc Sunday evening involving a car being driven “erratically” and a motorcycle, with a 57-year-old motorcyclist pronounced dead at the scene.
Central Hastings OPP responded to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically westbound on Highway 7 just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday, arriving on the collision scene to find the rider dead. The 19-year-old driver of the car was not injured.
Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision investigators from the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team are continuing their investigation but there is no word on any charges or why the SIU was called in.
As the SIU has invoked its mandate, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information.
