LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – State health and environment officials have issued an air quality advisory for parts of eastern Nebraska due to smoke drifting in from Canadian wildfires.
The advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. Tuesday through midnight and includes Lincoln, Omaha, Dakota City, David City, Fairbury, Fremont, Nebraska City, Pender, Seward, and Tecumseh.
Officials say the Air Quality Index (AQI) could reach levels considered “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” to “Unhealthy.” That means people with heart or lung conditions, older adults, and children may be at risk and should limit outdoor activity. If air quality worsens, even healthy individuals are advised to avoid prolonged exertion outside.
