Winds are carrying smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canada onto the Front Range.
DENVER — Over the past few days you may have noticed haze in the skies over Colorado: That’s due to wildfire smoke.
The smoke doesn’t originate in Colorado but rather is being pushed into our area by winds coming out of the north. Millions of acres are burning in 33 fires in the Pacific northwest states of Oregon, California, Idaho, Washington and Montana, along with Canada.
Smoke was visible in the skies, on and off, last week and through the weekend. It worsened on Monday but will gradually improve Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the 9NEWS Weather Impact Team.
As more smoke enters the state, it is advised to limit time outdoors, especially for those with heart disease, respiratory illness, the very young and the elderly.
