The WXII 12 First Warning Weather Team is tracking a fast-moving storm system coming out of the Midwest. SAY IT ISN’T SNOW! This storm system has a chance to bring a few hours of flurries and light snow to parts of the Piedmont late Monday night.PERSISTENT PATTERNThe weather pattern changed abruptly over the weekend. A trough of low pressure set up over maritime Canada and the Eastern U.S., creating a persistent west-northwest flow of air out of the northern latitudes. As a result, arctic air is being exported from central Canada into the interior U.S. with nothing to stop it from reaching the South. Disturbances embedded within the flow, known as short waves, have created occasional bursts of snow showers to the Appalachian slopes.
