A powerful winter storm is set to hit southern Ontario this weekend, bringing heavy snowfall, strong winds, and hazardous travel conditions.

The storm is expected to impact Mississauga, Toronto, Brampton, Halton Region, Durham Region, Hamilton, and the Niagara Region, with snowfall totals ranging from 25 to 35 cm. Some areas, particularly the Niagara Escarpment and Dundalk Highlands, could see even higher amounts.

The storm will begin Saturday afternoon, with up to 10 cm of snowfall expected by late evening. While snowfall may ease overnight, a more intense system will move in by Sunday morning, bringing peak snowfall rates of 3 to 6 cm per hour.

Strong winds will create blowing snow, reducing visibility to near zero at times.

An additional 15 to 25 cm of snow is expected before the storm gradually moves out Sunday evening.
