Police are again urging drivers to stay safe after more than 100 crashes in 24 hours on roads in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
“We’ve got multiple crashes happening all across the GTA,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video update on Thursday following a heavy snowfall in Mississauga, Toronto, and most of southern Ontario. “Please take care, stay safe, and stay in control.”
The OPP Highway Division says officers have responded to more than 125 stranded vehicles and over 100 crashes since Wednesday, and the Toronto Police Service also reported over 100 crashes related to the weather.
As of 5:15 p.m., police were working to clear two collisions on Highway 401 that were causing delays, including one where a vehicle crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer.
Police have been asking drivers to stay off of the roads until weather conditions improve.
