A number of flights are arriving late at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga on Thursday afternoon and evening due to winter weather conditions in the area.

Pearson officials said around the dinner hour on Thursday they’ve taken steps to ensure the safety of flights at Canada’s biggest and busiest airport as light snow was falling as of 6 p.m. There was snow earlier in the day as well.

Officials added they’ve put a “Traffic Management Initiative in place (at the airport) due to weather. Some flights arriving at Toronto Pearson are experiencing delays.”

Outbound travellers and those picking up arriving passengers at Pearson are being urged to check the status of flights ahead of time.

A Traffic Management Initiative is a strategy used by airports to safely manage the flow of air traffic, particularly in difficult weather conditions.

Pearson also experienced delays earlier this week due to a backlog of aircraft waiting to be de-icedbefore safely taking off. …
