A man faces several charges after police in Guelph say someone broke into a model home, slept in a bed there and left a wallet behind.

Guelph Police said a local builder called officers to the model home in the south end of the city on Saturday afternoon after finding a broken window and the door to the home ajar.

“Officers located blood on the broken window and a trail of blood drops going inside the home where they found an empty beer can in the kitchen,” police said in a news release on Monday, adding they also found a wallet that had been left on a nightstand in one of the bedrooms.

While officers at the scene were still investigating, they learned the man believed to be the owner of the wallet was being investigated for allegedly “damaging a vehicle downtown by kicking it,” police said.
