TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Tucson residents held a rally on the south side looking to stand up for a sacred tribal land, which is at risk of being turned into a mining operation pending a possible Supreme Court ruling.

Sunday was a day of celebration after a federal judge ruled to protect indigenous land miles away from a parking lot in South Tucson, but organizers of a rally there say the work is far from over to stay on what they say is the right side of history.

In honor of Oak Flat, a place located east of Phoenix that is a sacred spot for Apache people to hold ceremonies and prayer.

Generations of indigenous women say they have gotten used to telling the tale of more destruction of their land.

At the rally,, Vanessa Nosie and her daughters were able to tell a different story.
