Special weather statement in effect to cause 80 km/h winds in Ontario [Video]

Strong winds gusting up to 80 km/h have led to a special weather advisory for many cities and towns in southern Ontario for Monday evening.

Environment Canada issued the special weather statement shortly before 3 p.m. on Monday saying to expect strong northwest winds gusting up to 80 km/h as a cold front blasts through the region.

The wind be most felt most near the shorelines of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and includes parts of Northern Huron County, Southern Bruce County, and Tobermory among others, the agency said.

“Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, break branches off trees, and cause local power outages,” Environment Canada said in the alert.
