A winter storm watch has been issued with up to 25 cm of snowfall possible before the weekend is through in Mississauga and Brampton, and even more in other parts of southern Ontario.

Environment Canada put out the warning shortly after 4 p.m. saying between 15 to 25 cm of snow could fall starting on Sunday in Peel Region.

The storm is expected to last into Sunday night with peak snowfall rates of 3 to 6 cm per hour.

The snow should let up by early Monday morning but drivers can expect poor visibility with heavy snow.

Environment Canada says Durham Region could see up to 30 cm.

“There remains some uncertainty as to which areas will receive the heaviest snowfall amounts,” the agency says, adding to check the forecast again closer to Sunday.
