A 21-year-old woman was fatally shot while waiting at a bus stop during a targeted shooting on Hamilton’s west mountain Thursday evening.
Hamilton Police said emergency crews responded to reports of shots being fired near Upper James Street and South Bend Road around 7:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported to a hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
The victim has been identified as Harsimrat Randhawa, a student from India who was studying at Mohawk College. Police say she was on her way to work when she was struck by a stray bullet.
Investigators say surveillance video shows that gunfire was exchanged between two vehicles: a black Mercedes SUV and a white sedan. Shots were allegedly fired from the passenger side of the Mercedes toward the sedan. The white vehicle fled north on Upper James, …
