NEW ORLEANS – During this Super Bowl week, the usual boozy frivolity of a city renowned for its parties is being guarded with extra heavy security.

On Friday afternoon, as excitement built for Sunday’s big game, you didn’t have to walk more than a few steps from the Marriott on downtown Canal Street, where the Kansas City Chiefs have been staying, to see the proof. A phalanx of police officers and a menacing armoured vehicle flanked the hotel.
