Survey finds Fort St. John residents face downtown parking woes [Video]

FORT ST. JOHN –A majority of people are having a hard time finding a place to park their vehicles in Fort St. John, according to the results of a public survey conducted this past summer.

The survey, presented during a Committee of the Whole Meeting January 6th, focuses on mobility and parking in downtown and residential areas.

It found that 58% of respondents reported difficulties finding parking downtown, with most drivers taking five to ten minutes to secure a spot.

Of the 291 people surveyed, 90 per cent were residents with 20 per cent indicating they had mobility issues.

A majority were willing to walk up to 250 feet to a business, while those with mobility challenges preferred to be within 200 feet.
