Suspects smashed through the front door of a home in an Ontario town overnight in a failed bid to steal “high-end vehicles” that were parked in the driveway, police say.

Niagara Regional Police said that officers were called to a home on Winston Road near Kelson Avenue North in Grimsby at around 2:20 a.m. Thursday.

Unidentified male suspects went to the home, smashed through the front glass door with a hammer and went inside, police said.

“Once inside the residence, the suspects approached the occupant and demanded keys to several high-end vehicles that were parked in the driveway,” police said.

The occupant gave them the keys, then the suspects left and got inside the vehicles, police said.

“The suspects were unable to steal them due to secondary theft prevention measures that were installed by the owners,” officers said.
