A man was arrested and charged after police pulled over an SUV that was travelling more than 200 km/h on the Queen Elizabeth Way in Burlington late Monday night.
Ontario Provincial Police said an officer from the Burlington OPP detachment saw a dark-coloured SUV “travelling at an extremely high rate of speed” at 10:48 p.m. on the Fort Erie-bound QEW near Guelph Line.
The vehicle had its hazard lights on “and was estimated to be driving in excess of 200 km/h at times and using the shoulder to pass vehicles,” OPP said.
The SUV was stopped just before the Burlington Skyway bridge, police said.
“This vehicle description and driving action matches other recent incidents on the QEW reported to police by drivers between Burlington and Niagara,” police added.
