Provincial police in eastern Ontario are investigating after an SUV collided with a horse-drawn wagon west of Ottawa late Thursday afternoon.

Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police said the driver of the SUV was taken by paramedics to hospital with minor injuries in the wake of the 5 p.m. crash, which occurred some 140 kilometres west of the nation’s capital in the township of North Algona Wilberforce.

Police said the SUV “collided with the rear of a wagon being pulled by multiple horses” at the intersection of Letts Cemetery Road and Snodrifters Road.

The people in the wagon were not injured, nor were the horses, police said, adding the collision remains under investigation .
