Swastikas were found spray painted in a playground in Durham Region this weekend.
Officers got a call for hate-motivated graffiti in Stuart Park at 58 Stuart Rd. in Courtice just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, Durham Regional Police said on Monday.
The vandalism included a swastika spray painted on a slide and another beneath a panel, along with profane language, police said.
Police said officers and municipal staff removed the graffiti.
Based on witness statements, police believe the playground was vandalized sometime between 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, police said.
Police urge anyone in the area during this time and may have seen any suspicious activity to contact Detective Micallef of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 at ext. 1615.
