Tariffs delayed, but uncertainty remains in northern New York [Video]

Local leaders and businesses in Northern New York are breathing a temporary sigh of relief as the potential 25% tariff on Canadian goods has been delayed for 30 days. However, despite the delay, concerns about the negative impact such tariffs could have on the region still loom large.For years, Northern New York and Canada have shared a strong economic relationship, but recent actions by President Donald Trump, including the imposition of tariffs on Canadian imports, could disrupt that partnership.Garry Douglas, president and CEO of the North Country Chamber of Commerce, shared his concerns.”We estimate conservatively that there is more than a $1 billion U.S. impact annually just on Clinton County alone from cross-border commerce and all of its many forms.
