Tariffs on Canada and Mexico questioned by local leaders [Video]

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership fears the impact on an “incredibly integrated” regional economy.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — In the opening days of the Trump Administration, there has been a flurry of executive orders, including a potential 25 percent tariff on goods imported from Canada and Mexico.

That particular order could take effect Saturday. 

We have heard from politicians on this issue, but on Friday it was local business leaders speaking out as well, as they are also trying to enlist the public as consumers to spread a warning about what they feel will be a real blow to our cross border economy.

Thursday in the Oval Office, reporters heard President Trump say, “Look, Mexico and Canada have never been good to us on trade. They’ve treated us very unfairly on trade, and we will be able to make that up very quickly because we don’t need the products that they have.”
