A Calgary man was sentenced to 16 years in jail after pleading guilty to manslaughter in connection with two 2022 shootings.

Taylor Roan pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter in a Calgary courtroom on Tuesday.

The two shootings occurred within 24 hours of each other in November 2022 in the northeast communities of Falconridge and Castleridge.

The first incident took place on Nov. 11, when a man was confronted by a suspect at his home in the 0-100 block of Castleridge Close N.E.

The suspect shot the man and left in his vehicle. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition.

At the time, police believed the motive behind the shooting was robbery.

The second shooting occurred the next morning, on Nov. 12, in the 0-100 block of Falconridge Place N.E.

The victim, 41-year-old Nathan Ward, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Roan was originally charged with first-degree murder and manslaughter.
