Hearts have been melted by the sight of a cat waiting for her owner to play, but there was one problem she hadn’t counted on—he was still sleeping.

Cat owner Angelina Merilees, 23, captured the adorable pictures of 7-year-old Gnocchi waiting patiently for playtime to begin. Every morning, Gnocchi waits for Merilees’ dad Jesse to get up and give her attention, and it’s now part of their daily routine.

However, one morning, Jesse decided to sleep in a little longer, unbeknown to poor Gnocchi. Merilees, from Saskatchewan, Canada, told Newsweek that she “waited about 30 minutes” for him to get up and come play with her. She even sat with her favorite toys around her, but her buddy was nowhere to be seen.
