Charges have been laid against a Brampton teenager after police say a suspect broke into a home while running from cops following a botched cellphone store holdup.
The robbery happened around 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday when a group of male suspects tried to hold up a Rogers store on Fairview Street in Burlington, Halton Regional Police say.
Police say the suspects threatened staff and made demands for them to open the store’s time-delayed safe.
But a Good Samaritan saw the robbery taking place and called police, who arrived on the scene before the safe was opened.
The suspects fled the store in a silver Honda CRV, which police say had been reported stolen from Toronto.
Police gave chase and say the suspects abandoned the Honda before fleeing on foot.
