A teenager faces charges in connection to two Facebook Marketplace robberies in Ontario.
The robberies were reported in Georgetown in May, Halton Regional Police said. In both cases, the victims arranged to meet someone through Facebook Marketplace, police said.
On May 4, a resident arranged a meeting to buy a cell phone in the Stevens Crescent area of Georgetown, police said.
Police said that while the victim was looking at the phone the “buyer” pulled out a handgun and robbed the victim of their cash.
Then on May 7, a resident arranged to meet someone selling an iPhone through Facebook Marketplace. Police said they met in the Stevens Crescent area, and the seller showed the victim a gun and fled with the cash and the phone.
