Police have suspended a teenage driver for 90 days after the boy was allegedly caught impaired and going over 180 km/h on an Ontario highway.

The high-speed traffic stop happened on Monday around 1:30 a.m. while officers with the OPP were working speed enforcement on Highway 401 in Blandford-Blenheim, approximately 35 kilometres northwest of Brantford.

Police say they stopped a vehicle travelling at 181 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, and an investigation revealed the driver was impaired.

The OPP says a 17-year-old driver from Caledon was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, failure or refusal to comply with demand, and drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed.
