19-year-old Carlos Rivera has been charged with evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

ODESSA, Texas — A man in Odessa has been charged with evading arrest after fleeing from a Texas DPS trooper caused him to crash, DPS says.

On Tuesday morning around 11 a.m., Texas DPS tried to make a traffic stop on 19-year-old Carlos Rivera near Golder Ave. and 46th St. for a traffic violation. Rivera did not comply and proceeded to flee from the trooper.

Rivera eventually lost control of his vehicle and crashed in a private driveway near US 385 and Yukon Rd.

The 19-year-old was taken to Medical Center Hospital in stable condition. He was charged with evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

Rivera also had warrants from Ector County for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
