The Cultural Wheel, a folk dancing program founded by Ian Portius, brought its lively spirit to Crescentview School in Portage la Prairie.

“Today we have Ian Portius visiting our school. He’s the founder of the Cultural Wheel, which is a folk dancing presentation where he goes throughout the school with different kids. He teaches them a folk dance and then they perform at the end. He incorporates a mix of heritage from throughout the province and various other elements, which is beneficial,” says Principal Doyle Moar.

Mr. Moar emphasized the value of students trying new things and stepping out of their comfort zones:

“Anytime our kids get to try something new, I think it’s great, and putting themselves out there a little bit. Some of them get a little bit nervous when it comes to showcasing or trying something new, but I think Ian’s got a good way about him, …
