The Daytripper is featuring Mexia in upcoming episode [Video]

From Fort Parker to the Cindy Walker Home, Host Chet Garner digs into the history, culture and food that makes Mexia a fun place to visit.

MEXIA, Texas — Mexia is widely known for how difficult it is to pronounce the town’s name correctly, but did you know it was the Birthplace of Juneteenth? It’s also the site of historic Fort Parker that tells the story of settlers and Native Americas. 

In the 1950s, Mexia became the hometown of Country Music Hall of Fame Songwriter Cindy Walker who went on to write her biggest hits in her home on Brooks Street.

Host Chet Garner of the popular PBS show “The Daytripper” got to learn all about the history of the small town while enjoying food from local restaurants including Joe Friday’s Diner and The Farm House.
