RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA)—The Lakota Women Warriors are celebrating 10 years of representing women in the military. Their mission is to honor past, present, and future women veterans while embracing and encouraging diversity within the armed forces and veteran communities.

The color guard uniforms incorporate representation of their tribal heritage, and they connect with the community through education on Native American historical presence in the military and its continued relevance to our culture.

You can learn more about the Lakota Women Warriors at the Black Hills Pow Wow from October 11 through 13. There the group will be selling t-shirts to raise money for the organization, and also to raise awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous people and breast cancer.

More information on the Lakota Women Warriors can be found on their Facebook page.
