Canadian police have seized a commercial truck with 238 pounds of cocaine that had just passed through the Sweetgrass border crossing in Montana.

During the March 8th search, police found the cocaine hidden inside the truck, according to the Canada Border Services Agency. While the truck was registered in Canada, the load had originated in the United States, police said.

The Sweet Grass crossing is about 35 miles north of Shelby.

The driver, 26-year-old Arshdeep Singh of Calgary, Alberta, was arrested and charged with the importation of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

“By intercepting these drugs, which came through the USA, we’ve kept harmful substances out of our communities and collectively made our cities safer,” said Supt. Jeff Bell of the Calgary Police service.
