Police in several Ontario communities are trying to put an end to a recent rash of pickup truck thefts, the latest of the stolen vehicles found abandoned early Wednesday morning in Mississauga.
Specifically, Guelph Police say, thieves have been targeting Toyota Tundra pickups in recent months in that city. Thefts and attempted thefts of that model of pickup have also spiked in the Waterloo area and beyond going back to last year.
In the latest incident, police said a Guelph resident reported his green 2024 Tundra was stolen from his driveway just before 5 a.m. Wednesday.
“While officers were investigating the theft, they learned the vehicle had been located abandoned near Highway 401 in Mississauga,” Guelph Police said in a news release Wednesday.
Police added they’re also investigating a report of a stolen Tundra in the Eastview Road and Starwood Drive area of Guelph on Tuesday.
