Third person charged in Cape Breton homicide case [Video]

Cape Breton Regional Police charged a third person in connection with the disappearance and murder of Kenneth “Justin” MacDonald, said a Tuesday news release.

Aaron Curtis Mickey, 45, is charged with the following:

  • second-degree murder
  • robbery
  • four firearm-related offences

Police arrested Mickey near Sydney, N.S., on Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation by the Major Crimes Unit.

Mickey is remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.

On Dec. 23 police charged Ryan Joseph Pyke, 34, with second-degree murder and robbery in connection with MacDonald’s disappearance.

On Dec. 13 police police arrested and charged 38-year-old Mitchell McPhee with manslaughter, robbery and assault in the case.

Police announced in November they were treating MacDonald’s disappearance as a homicide.

MacDonald, 34, was last seen on surveillance footage at a gas station in North Sydney, N.S., on July 7.
