California officials are suing the federal government over tariffs imposed by Donald Trump, arguing they were unlawfully enacted under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Attorney General Rob Bonta says Trump fabricated national emergencies, including false claims of threats from Canada, where less than 1% of illegal drugs or crossings originate. Governor Gavin Newsom criticized the economic fallout, calling the market turmoil reckless and slamming Congress for its inaction.
