Thousands Rally In Sydney in Support of the Indigenous Community In Australia
Thousands of people rallied in Sydney and in other parts of Australia in support of a campaign to recognise the country’s indigenous community in the constitution. The nationwide rallies come ahead of a referendum later this year that seeks to establish an advisory body called the Indigenous Voice to Parliament. The body will give the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people a direct say in policies that affect them. Yes23, which organized these rallies, said nearly 3,000 people turned up to attend the event in Sydney’s Prince Alfred Park.
