It has been a stormy day in southeastern Manitoba, complete with heavy rain, hail, strong winds and even a tornado warning.
According to Environment Canada, a fairly moisture-laden air mass is moving into southern Manitoba from the United States. This has resulted in thunderstorm activity throughout the day.
At approximately 4 pm, Environment Canada issued a tornado warning for parts of southeastern Manitoba, including Steinbach, Niverville and Grunthal. It warned of a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation, advising individuals to take cover immediately if threatening weather approached.
Moments later, the sky opened, and a heavy downpour flooded streets in Steinbach. There was also hail and strong winds, under a very dark sky. By 4:30 pm, the storm ended, and the tornado warning was lifted for Steinbach. However, the warning then moved to Richer and the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne.
