Toronto breweries shine at 2025 Canadian Brewing Awards [Video]

Toronto breweries came home this weekend with six medals from the Canadian Brewing Awards, including two golds and a best-in-show, while craft beer producers from the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area earned nine medals in total.

The annual event, held this year at the University of British Columbia campus, welcomed breweries of all sizes from around the country to compete in a Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) sanctioned blind tasting to celebrate the best beers across 50 award categories.

Held over two days (June 6-7), the Canadian Brewing Awards offered presentations and seminars, a brewery crawl around Vancouver and the gala event, where Smithers Brewing of Smithers, B.C. was voted Brewery of the Year and Toronto’s Godspeed Brewery won Best-in-Show for Irori, an eight per cent Peated Scotch Lager.
